 Alexa Lane, E-RYT, CMT

Alexa Lane is a yoga and dance instructor with over 20 years of teaching experience. Having studied dance since the age of 3, movement and self expression have always been an essential part of her life. Alexa worked as a professional dancer/singer/actress for many years in various musical theatre, television and independent film productions in the United States and Europe and is a member of AEA, SAG & AFTRA.

 

Alexa has always believed in living a holistic, healthy lifestyle which led her to the study of yoga and meditation. Initially, she began her yoga practice as a way to heal dance related injuries, but what she found most compelling, beyond the physicality, was the positive impact a daily yoga practice had on all aspects of her life.

 

Alexa has studied yoga with many wonderful teachers and has additional education & certifications in massage therapy, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and energy medicine. She created Aloka Life Teacher Training, a Connecticut based Registered Yoga School (RYS®) accredited through Yoga Alliance®. Alexa regularly leads workshops on the musculoskeletal system and biomechanics as they relate to yoga. She has been blessed to have worked with hundreds of students in the greater New York area. Alexa offers students a rare combination of technical & scientific understanding of the body combined with an intuitive sense of the individual. Her approach directs people to work from the physical body into the energetic realm, cultivating freedom and expansion as a way of being.

Connecticut Yoga Alliance® Teacher Trainings and Yoga Workshops are featured at Aloka Life Yoga. Guided yoga meditation and Yoga Asana CD workout CDs and videos. We also offer Yoga instruction in Connecticut, New York and New England as well as nutrition and lifestyle support.. We offer yoga certification and group and private yoga classes in CT and NY, lectures and yoga breakthrough workshops using principles of yoga therapy and Ayurveda. Our influences include styles such as Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga yoga, Viniyoga, Iyengar yoga and Bikram yoga. Hatha (physical) yoga prepares the body for meditation and we believe that meditation is essential to calm the mind and increase our sense of wellness.
